Who is your yoga instructor?

Jess Perez, certified yoga instructor with a focus on trauma-sensitive practices, current Master of Counselling student.

Jess has been practicing yoga for 15 years. After experiencing the benefits for her mind, body, and soul, she decided to take a teacher training course six years ago and has been teaching ever since. She loves seeing how people embark on their journey of introspection and learn to view themselves through a new and empowering lens. Her classes emphasize attunement that helps people move out of their minds and into their bodies, facilitating day-to-day activities and navigating challenges with ease. With Jess, you will learn how to practice yoga asanas on the mat so that you can take the yoga practice with you wherever you go.

An avid traveler who has visited more than 50 countries, Jess is always on the lookout for the best places to practice her favorite sports like rock climbing, mountain biking, and snowboarding. She believes that yoga’s emphasis on mindfulness, flexibility, and strength directly improves her performance in these activities, and she enjoys sharing these benefits with students.

Currently pursuing a master’s in counseling, Jess is expanding her knowledge of the healing arts of talk therapy to combine it with somatic practices and work one-on-one with clients. Jess loves to chat about yoga, travel, or outdoor sports before or after class.

"Whether you’re just beginning your yoga journey or you’ve been practicing for years. Jess offers options and modifications for all levels and encourages participants to explore each posture at their own pace. This is your class, and you’re invited to make it as easy or challenging as you like to suit your day. Together, we’ll breathe, move, and release some of life’s pressures in a creative and affirmative way."
