Seyda Bilikci is currently a counsellor in training under the supervision of Shalene Takara. She received a Bachelor’s in Psychology from George Mason University (Virginia, United States) and is obtaining a Masters of Counselling at City University (Vancouver BC, Canada).

Seyda is passionate about working with people of all ages and backgrounds who are experiencing a variety of distress, such as relationship problems, trauma, anxiety, depression, burnout, loneliness, and feeling overwhelmed or “trapped”. She takes a person-centered and collaborative approach to support her clients on their journey towards greater well-being and helps them to facilitate positive change, process their trauma, grow, heal, and accomplish their goals while discovering their inner strengths and resilience. She believes that a genuine, positive therapy relationship is a crucial instrument for growth and healing and therefore strives to create a non-judgmental, empathetic, and culturally sensitive space that feels comfortable and safe for clients to share their feelings, thoughts, and unique experiences. She recognizes “one size does not fit all”, and tailors her approach and techniques to meet her clients’ individual needs. Her goal is to help clients create a well-balanced life and to help them learn to be their own therapist using the tools that they have gained through therapy.

Seyda utilizes evidence-based techniques to help her clients gain a broader insight of themselves and their problems, process their emotions, and gain skills to utilize new strategies to manage the challenges they are facing. Currently, she is receiving training in CBT for depression from Beck Institute and Gottman Marriage and Couples Therapy from Gottman Institute, as well as Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). Her preferred therapy approaches include EFT (Emotionally focused therapy) for individuals (EFIT) and couples (EFCT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Narrative Therapy, and Gottman marriage and couples therapy.

It takes strength, courage, and resilience to pursue therapy. Seyda appreciates that you are considering taking this crucial step towards addressing your concerns. If you are interested in working with her, please reach out to schedule a session. It is her hope to help you in the best way she can as your therapist.
