Practicum Site & Supervisor:
Sandstone Counselling and Psychotherapy - Rachael Riethman (supervisor)

Claire (she/her) is currently a Master’s level MA in counselling psychology practicum student, who is qualified to practice under the clinical supervision of an approved practicum supervisor.

Claire (she/her) is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) at Sandstone Counselling and Psychotherapy. The ten years she has spent as a teacher both in Canada and overseas have afforded her many rich opportunities to connect with children and their families, supporting them with various struggles. She is thrilled to now be focusing on her deep and enduring passion for mental health and wellbeing.

Claire’s practice is guided by curiosity, authentic connection, and collaboration. She sees clients as the experts of their lives and considers it a privilege to provide a warm safe space free of judgment to facilitate self-awareness, growth, and healing. Within this therapeutic space, clients can begin to explore the patterns they’ve adapted to, deciding which ones continue to serve them, and which ones are keeping them stuck.

Claire takes a holistic, integrative, and person-centered approach with clients, tailoring therapy to their unique needs. She anchors herself in relational theory, believing that connection within and outside of the therapeutic relationship has a crucial influence on wellbeing and change.
Claire also pulls from theories such as internal family systems, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), solution focused therapy (SFT), and play therapy. Claire has a deep commitment to social justice and strives to provide care that is culturally responsive and LGBTQ2S+ affirmative.
